Amazon’s new Fire TV Cube expands Alexa voice control

Fire TV Cube

The Amazon Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen) is a new media streaming device. It was meant to be Amazon’s September 2022 launch ceremony, but word leaked hours before.

The Fire TV Cube astonished us. We scored the Amazon Fire TV Cube (2nd Gen) 4.5 stars in our review. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR 10, HDR 10+, HLG, and Dolby Atmos, so you can watch TV and movies in great quality.

This improved version includes all of our favourite features and adds Wi-Fi 6E and an Ethernet adapter to lessen 4K buffering times online.

In a surprise, the new Fire TV Cube will contain a second HDMI port, but it will be for input. This lets you link the PS5 or Xbox Series X to your home entertainment setup and give you voice control over more of its gadgets.

We won’t know how much of an improvement the new streamer is until we try it, but the new Amazon 3rd gen TV looks intriguing on paper.

But this comes at a cost. You can preorder the new device right now and get it on October 25 for $139.99 / £139.99 / AU$219, which is $20 / £30 more than the first TV Cube cost. Buying a reduced older smartphone may be enticing if you don’t need the latest features.

Maybe Amazon will reduce some of its older streaming devices during Prime Day 2. As part of this event running up to Black Friday 2022, Amazon Prime members can get discounts on a number of products early.
