This week, Apple is likely going to reveal the AirPods Pro 2 at their upcoming “Far Out” event.
AirPods Pro are old technology. Apple may introduce a second-generation AirPods alongside the iPhone 14 and Apple Watch 8 on September 7th.
If a new reportedly leaked CAD render from Apple Insider’s Andrew O’Hara is accurate, the AirPods Pro 2 charging case could see the biggest modifications.
AirPods Pro 2 features
First, ignore the bold red. O’Hara says in a reply that this is to make the features more obvious, not a clue that Apple will use Product Red across their AirPods range.
A lower speaker grilAirPods Pro 2 featuresle has also been mentioned. The case may then be linked to Apple’s Find My network and will play a sound when in range.
There’s also a lanyard hook for attaching the case to a keychain. Considering how many individuals have lately lost their AirPods, these two inventions may not be a bad idea.
The CAD designs don’t make it apparent as to whether the charging port is Lightning or USB-C. Recent sources claim this will be Apple’s last cable.
Another detail: On the bottom of the case, there’s a strange hole that could be a microphone.
MacRumors thinks it’s for Apple’s Live Listen accessibility function. Here, an iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch microphone feeds audio to AirPods. If it’s not too expensive, this may be built inside the case.
Soon we’ll know. Apple’s next event is on Wednesday, and while AirPods Pro 2 isn’t as certain as the iPhone 14, it wouldn’t be strange if they debuted then.
