After purchasing Cloudways, DigialOcean was able to increase its web hosting options.
Businesses hoping to establish or expand their digital presence are targeted by the $350 million contract, the DigitalOcean claims.
About half of the cloud hosting provider’s users are currently using DigitalOcean’s infrastructure. The two companies have been working together since 2014.
SMB deal
Cloudways, based in Malta, offers onboarding management tools to small and medium-sized businesses who want to contract out their network connectivity.
Aaqib Gadit, founder and CEO of Cloudways, expressed his company’s excitement at being a part of DigitalOcean.
SMBs value simplicity, performance, predictability, price, and support. Together with Digital Ocean, we can help SMBs expand through cloud products.
DigitalOcean wants to expand its offerings with the Cloudways acquisition, offering more alternatives for digital agencies, ecommerce websites, blogging sites, freelance developers, website builders, and WordPress, PHP, and Magento hosting.
SMBs comprise 50% of global GDP and spend $70 billion on cloud infrastructure. DigitalOcean CEO Yancey Spruill said the acquisition makes it easier to establish, build, and scale a business.
“Cloudways and DigitalOcean share values around simplicity, community, openness, and support to differentiate in the industry. Together, we’ll deliver a simple, easy, intuitive, and reliable platform to help SMBs grow.
The acquisition of Cloudways will grow DigitalOcean’s global workforce by 30%.
DigitalOcean expects Cloudways to generate $13 to $15 million in fiscal 2022.
