New Galaxy S23 leak claims Samsung may copy Apple

Galaxy S23

The Samsung Galaxy S23 is likely to be one of the first big flagship phones to arrive in 2023, but a fresh rumour suggests that the three phones in the line-up won’t be all that different from their Samsung Galaxy S22 predecessors.

According to Ice Universe (via GSMArena), the 2023 handsets will have similar dimensions and screen sizes and resolutions.

This would be comparable to Apple’s latest updates, where the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus appear like the previous two versions.

The new Galaxy S23 leak fits a prior claim from the same source that the Galaxy S23 Ultra would similarly resemble the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Now the range is covered.

Statistically

Only the heights and widths are altering, and only slightly. The Galaxy S23 measures 146.3 mm x 70.9 mm x 7.6 mm (compared to the Galaxy S22’s 146 mm x 70.6 mm x 7.6 mm) and will have the same 6.1-inch, 2340 x 1080 pixel screen.

The Galaxy S23 Plus measures 157.8 x 76.2 x 7.6 mm (compared with the dimensions of 157.4 mm x 75.8 mm x 7.64 mm of the Galaxy S22 Plus). The display will be 6.6 inches with 2340 x 1080 pixels.

The Galaxy S23 Ultra allegedly measures 163.4 x 78.1 x 8.9 mm (up against the 163.3 mm x 77.9 mm x 8.9 mm dimensions of the Galaxy S22 Ultra). The 6.8-inch screen with 3088 x 1440 pixels will return.

Comparative analysis

We wouldn’t be too sad if all the Galaxy S23 enhancements were on the inside next year — the Galaxy S22 series is elegant enough, and Samsung may give us some new colours.

Chipset upgrades are likely. In a change from recent years, there won’t be any Exynos chipset variations either.

The S23 Ultra may have a 200MP camera sensor, but the S23 and S23 Plus may not.

From what we know today, the new iPhone 14 Pro versions won’t have anything as revolutionary as the Dynamic Island, but Samsung’s foldable phones have plenty of original concepts, and there are still months for additional leaks.
