Walmart Plus subscribers will soon get Paramount Plus Essential free. Paramount Plus will be added to Walmart Plus at no additional cost, according to a press statement.
The decision will help Walmart pitch Walmart Plus as a viable rival to Amazon Prime, which offers free delivery and a suite of TV and films.
Paramount Plus’ Essential tier costs $49.99 a year (after a one-week trial) and includes Halo, Star Trek: Picard, iCarly, NFL matches via CBS live, live soccer matches including the Champions League, and CBSN’s 24/7 news coverage. You can’t download shows to watch offline without upgrading to Paramount Plus Premium.
Walmart Plus members receive a number of additional perks in addition to access to the streaming content offered by Paramount Plus. If you spend $35 or more on an item, you’ll receive it delivered the following day for free (or the day after, depending on your location), and if you spend more than $35 on groceries, you won’t pay any shipping fees at all. There are almost 14,000 petrol stations around the United States where you can obtain this discount, which amounts to 10 cents per gallon.
Walmart Plus is less expensive than Amazon Prime but doesn’t offer as many perks (such as fuel discounts) as Amazon Prime (which includes access to Amazon Music, Prime Reading, and unlimited photo storage through Amazon Photos). Amazon Prime costs an extra $41 per year, bringing the total to $139 as opposed to $98 for Walmart Plus.
As long as the price doesn’t go up, we won’t be complaining about any new perks, and we hope Walmart will find more ways to make its subscription service even more desirable for customers.
