This Wi-Fi 6E router uses blockchain to safeguard passwords

Wi-Fi 6E router

Gryphon’s new Wi-Fi 6E router is one of a few that will use Blockchain to protect passwords and other important information.

Gryphon sells a two-pack that can cover a 6,000 square foot home and a four-pack that covers 12,000 square feet.

At the time of writing, a single Gryphon Wi-Fi 6E router costs $239 on Kickstarter, but the price will rise to $399 in December.

The Gryphon 6E will ship with MetaSafe, a Web3 blockchain powered by the company’s routers.

MetaSafe

MetaSafe is a fork of Ethereum and Harmony, but Gryphon uses proof-of-bandwidth and proof-of-memory validation to run a utility blockchain on low-cost CPUs.

MetaSafe’s initial software is a decentralised password manager for Gryphon routers. All passwords will be encrypted, and users will have a private wallet to store medical documents, ID, and more. Users can mine tokens to spend on other MetaSafe-built Web3 apps.

Gryphon CEO John Wu said in a press release

“The Gryphon was founded to make the internet safer and more private for future generations. Gryphon 6E with MetaSafe is a step toward giving everyone control over their privacy and data in a decentralised network that’s almost hack-proof.

Gryphon 6E tri-band mesh router specifications

The Gryphon 6E tri-band mesh router employs 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands to deliver 9.6Gbps. The smartphone will have a 2GHz Cortex A54 CPU, 8GB of flash memory, and 1GB of RAM.

The Gryphon 6E has one 2.5 Gigabit WAN Ethernet port and three 1 Gigabit LAN connections. Unfortunately, there’s no USB connector for adding more network storage.

Gryphon’s Kickstarter page indicates the Gryphon 6E will be available in Q4 2022. Since we praised the Gryphon Secure Mesh Router in 2020, you may want to preorder the Gryphon 6E now to save money on a powerful mesh router that can protect your family from viruses and other internet risks.
